Wine Description

The name of this exotic Alto Adige blend refers to the stony soil in which the grapes are grown, which in local dialect is referred to as "stoan." This aromatic white wine is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer grapes which are blended together and fermented in large oak barrels before being refined an additional seven months before bottling.

“Grown in rocky, calcareous soils in the hills above Tramin, this blend of chardonnay (65 percent), sauvignon and pinot bianco includes only five percent gewürztraminer, though it smells clearly like a spicy traminer – perhaps the terroir character of those hills. The middle of the wine is fat and lush, the finish lime-driven and leaner, with a fragile minerality adding depth.”
