Tramin Stoan

Stoan Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

The name of this exotic Alto Adige blend refers to the stony soil in which the grapes are grown, which in local dialect is referred to as "stoan." This aromatic white wine is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, blended together and fermented in large oak barrels and refined an additional seven months before bottling.

Acclaim
“The 2010 Stoan is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 22% Sauvignon, 11% Pinot Bianco and 7% Gewürztraminer. The aromatic varieties play a leading role, while the Chardonnay seems less dominant than in some previous vintages. Although it is delicious, in this vintage Stoan isn't materially more complex than the estate's more modest wines. Today the 2010 comes across as classy and understated. White peaches, flowers and spices are layered into the attractive finish.”
