Domaine Nico Histoire D'A

Histoire D'A bottle image

Wine Description

In both La Savante and Histoire d'A we use whole clusters during fermentation to highlight the texture and graininess of the wines.  Histoire d'A is a generous due to great sun exposure, with cinnamon, cloves, and perceived sweetness to the tannins.

Acclaim
“Bright medium red. Lovely perfumed lift to the aromas of raspberry, spices and rose petal. A step up in silkiness of texture from the Grand Mère and Grand Père bottlings (the yield here is a moderate 40 hectoliters per hectare), with juicy acidity intensifying and lifting the flavors of brambly red berries, flowers and orange zest. This impressively concentrated Pinot combines a luxurious mouthfeel, sharp definition and serious energy in the manner of a very good Côte de Nuits Burgundy, a rarity for Pinot Noir in Argentina but proof that high-altitude, calcaire-rich sites in Uco Valley hold out great potential for this finicky variety. Finishes with suave tannins and excellent building length (from Dijon clone 115 planted in 1998 on a south-facing limestone slope in Gualtallary, just ten miles south of the Catena family's Villa Bastías vineyard; vinified with 50% whole clusters).”

“The soils of the 2017 Histoire d’A Pinot Noir have more sand, from the Adrianna vineyard in Gualtallary, but the wine felt very different from the La Savante. This felt a little riper and had a little less complexity.”
