Domaine Nico

Grand Père

Domaine Nico

Grand Père

Elegant and classic Pinot Noir that fits the name "Grandfather."  Laura has a profound respect for what grandparents do for children, and she wanted to honor their love and wisdom with this wine.

Wine Production

Fermented with 20% whole clusters and indigenous yeast. Fermentation is split evenly between a 600L oak roll-fermentor and stainless-steel tanks.  Punch-down extraction is done by hand, and the maximum fermentation temperature only reaches 25 degrees Celsius. Malolactic fermentation took place in the barrel.

Tasting Notes

Domaine Nico Grand Père displays intense aromas of fresh red fruits with subtle notes of earth, spice, and violets. It has medium-high acidity, low perception of alcohol, silky tannins, and a lengthy, slightly herbal finish.

Food Pairing

Enjoy Domaine Nico Grand Père with pecorino cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, spicy Korean rice cakes, or delicate fish such as haddock.

About the Vineyard

Villa Bastias is located in Tupungato within the Uco Valley.  Domaine Nico’s Grand Mère and Grand Père parcels are nearly 30 years old, planted in Villa Bastías with Dijon Clones (115) in 1993. The Grand Père parcel is more shaded, producing wines with notes of red fruits, minerality, and high acidity. Winemaking is traditional and gentle for these delicate wines. Yields are extremely low due to the age of the vineyard.
