Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino

Wine Description

The Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino is one of three high-end Malbecs first released by the winery in 2007. Like its siblings, the wine exemplifies Nicolás Catena’s success and pioneering research with the Malbec grape in Mendoza. The vines for Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino are carefully chosen from two of the winery’s best vineyard sites: the Adrianna and the Nicasia.

Acclaim
The 2007 Argentino Malbec is a blend of the Nicasia and Adrianna cuvees. This wine seems to have an extra dimension of complexity. The Argentino offers a similar aromatic and flavor profile, but with just a bit of extra nuance.
— Wine Advocate, Dec 2010
Bright, saturated ruby. Vibrant blackberry and mineral aromas, plus an almost exotic note of caramel; very ripe but still a bit tight. Like liquid silk on entry, then staggeringly concentrated, sweet and utterly seamless in the middle. This explosive wine expands with aeration and finishes with utterly suave tannins and palate-staining length. A knockout of a malbec.
