Tramin Unterebner

Unterebner Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

This is not your typical Pinot Grigio. Made using hand-selected grapes from the Unterebner vineyard in Alto Adige, the wine is refined in large oak casks. After seven to eight months of lees contact, the resulting wine is rich, refined, and elegant.

Acclaim
“Vivid golden-tinged yellow; remarkably young-looking color. Hints of pear, apple, tangerine, butterscotch and truffle on the fresh nose, complicated by a strong dusting of minerals. Then more minerals in the mouth, with soft but harmonious acidity nicely framing the orchard fruit and herb flavors nicely. Long and very pure, this finishes brightly, with an austere quality and noteworthy refinement. Knockout Pinot Grigio that I have always liked from the day it was first released, though it is beginning to tire and any bottles you might still have are best drunk up and enjoyed. The 2002 was always a great wine, though characterized by a very high amount of new oak (about 30% of the barriques were new as compared to the more usual 15%), and while the new oak was a little intrusive many years ago, it is now fully integrated.”
