Poggio ai Merli di Castellare

Poggio ai Merli di Castellare

Made from 100% Merlot harvested from a single vineyard located 1,181 feet above sea level in the heart of Chianti Classico. The grapes are harvested in September, then crushed, de-stemmed and macerated in contact with the skins for 28 days. The wine is aged in barrique for 15 months, followed by an additional 10 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes

This Merlot has an intense ruby red color, with purple reflections. Very fruity with loads of ripe berries and a light touch of vanilla. Full bodied and persistent with well-balanced tannins.

Food Pairing

This seductive red makes a superb match with roasted tenderloin, seasoned game, cherry chutney sauces, and cioppino.
