Torrontés bottle image

Wine Description

The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda in the Eastern region of Mendoza. They are made by Leopoldo Kuschnaroff, a winemaker and viticulturist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in Eastern Mendoza. Torrontés is indigenous to Argentina and has a unique profile that has quickly made it the country's signature white grape. The high altitude vineyard where the Tilia Torrontés grapes are sourced sits at an incredibly high 5,577 feet above sea level.

Acclaim
“The 2013 Torrontés from Tilia is produced with grapes from the east of Mendoza that were planted in Salta. The 2014 is produced from new vineyards in the Calchaquí valleys. All these Torrontés are produced in a reductive way, in stainless steel without malolactic. The nose is full of white flowers, is quite subtle and has citric hints. The palate is dry with intense flavors and very good acidity. The wine expands in the mouth and makes you salivate but the flavors are not overpowering. It drinks nicely. It's only starting to show some evolution, so is still quite fresh.”
— Wine Advocate, Aug 2015
“Shows fresh aromas and flavors of spice, green peach, pippin apple and lime, with hints of cream midpalate and honeyed accents on the finish.”
— Wine Spectator, Sep 2014
