Tiefenbrunner Feldmarschall von Fenner

Feldmarschall von Fenner Müller-Thurgau Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Feldmarschall is a special wine. The vineyards sit on the high plateau of Fennberg, and are protected from the northerly winds and ripened in a a unique microclimate. At an elevation of 3,300 feet above see level, these are among the highest vineyards in Europe. The wine is named after Franz Philipp Freiherr von Fenner zu Fennberg, founder of the Austrian Kaiserjäger (soldiers of the Austrian emperor), who once used this picturesque Hofstatt as a summer residence.

Acclaim
The 2009 Muller Thurgau Feldmarschall is a wonderfully precise yet rich white that blossoms on the palate with mint, flowers and juicy peaches. In 2009 the Feldmarschall shows more body and volume than is normally the case, but the high altitude vineyards keep everything in check.
— Wine Advocate, Feb 2011
“Alpine wine just doesn’t get better than this. Imagine these mountainous Müller-Thurgau grapes blossoming at their splendor at 3,300 feet above sea level. Ripe yellow fruits coupled with razor-sharp acidity make this wine absolutely irresistible—if you can get your hand on a bottle, that is. If you see it, jump on it.”Bottle shot is included in the piece
