Castello di Neive Santo Stefano Barbaresco

Barbaresco Santo Stefano Albesani DOCG bottle image

Wine Description

The Barbaresco Santo Stefano is the result of an ethereal combination of the ideal terroir with the perfectly-suited Nebbiolo grape.  This wine shows all the characteristic elegance of Barbaresco with the complexity and richness for which Santo Stefano is known.  The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine are grown in the Albesani sub-appellation inside Barbaresco, in the single vineyard of Santo Stefano, which is owned entirely by Castello di Neive.

Acclaim
“Structured and loaded with finesse, this stunning red opens with scents of perfumed berry, rose petal, baking spice and a balsamic note. The focused palate delivers juicy black cherry, ground pepper, anise and tobacco alongside firm but refined tannins. It has great length, closing on a mineral note. Drink 2018–2028.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Oct 2015
“The 2012 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano is the richest of these three Barbarescos from Castello di Neive. The warmth of the vintage is evident, but so is the pure pedigree of this famous hillside site in Neive. Blood orange, spice, wild flowers, mint and leather all open up in a striking, explosive Barbaresco endowed with real class. If opened young, the 2012 needs a lot of air. Hopefully readers will put away a few bottles, though. My sense is that this wine still has a lot to say.”
