Il Carbonaione
Poggio Scalette takes its name from a landscape that is characterized by dry stone wall, which support the terraces on which the vineyards are planted. From a distance, the view offers an impression of a series of stairs climbing the slopes of Greve. The plot is called “Il Carbonaione” because the Fiore’s believe a charcoal pit was located there many years before. These vines—some more than 75 years old—are a rare example of the original clone of the famous “Sangiovese di Lamole” varietal in the Chianti Classico area.
