Tua Rita Redigaffi

Redigaffi Toscana IGT bottle image

Wine Description

Redigaffi is a breathtaking, iconic wine made entirely from estate Merlot. The perfectly manicured vineyards are planted to ensure low yields and the greatest quality of the grapes. Extra long maceration with the skins and manual, frequent punch downs allow for Redigaffi’s outstanding concentration and complexity. The wine is matured on the lees for eighteen months in French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. The final wine is the flagship wine of the Tua Rita estate.

Acclaim
From fruit grown in iron-rich soils, the 2016 Merlot Redigaffi is starting to show the influence of its terroir, which leads the way on the nose, followed by notes of red apple skin, dried herbs, and leather. A saturated red color, the palate is just beautiful and seamless, with velvety tannins, mouthwatering acidity, and an exceptionally well-balanced finish. It’s showing incredibly well now but has tons of life ahead of it over the next two decades. — Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2025
“The 2016 Redigaffi is a wine of exquisite harmony and balance. It is still a wine I love. For Frascolla, '2016 was very, very good and one of the greatest vintages in the last 10 years.' Summer was sunny but temperate and ripening was long and slow, lasting until the first week of September. The wine has very vibrant, clearly delineated aromas of smoke, spice, tar and ripe blackcurrant, with fragrant and delicate yet precise scents of violet and wild flowers. There's a lovely, vivid freshness on the finish and the tannins are seamlessly integrated into the wine - perfectly extracted and perfectly ripe. It flows beautifully across the palate and it still feels so young.”
