Tilia Malbec Syrah

Malbec Syrah bottle image

Wine Description

The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda in the Eastern region of Mendoza. They are made by Alejandro Viggiani, a winemaker and viticulturist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in Eastern Mendoza. As Argentina's signature Malbec continues to rise in popularity, so too does the quality of the wines being produced. Additionally, many winemakers are creating some exciting blends using Malbec like this Malbec-Syrah blend. The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in the Eastern and Southern regions of Mendoza with an elevation ranging from 1,968 to 3,937 feet above sea level.

Acclaim
The 2010 Malbec (60%) – Syrah (40%) displays darker fruit than the 100% Malbec cuvee along with ample, plush, savory fruit. Like the other wines in this collection, it will provide pleasure over the next 2-3 years.
— Wine Advocate, Dec 2011
Best Buy. Oaked up at all points, but still a good basic blend of two friendly grapes. Shows cherry and raspber¬ry aromas along with graphite and barrel spice on the bouquet. The palate is edgy and resiny, with oak-infused raspberry, plum and citrus flavors. Lively and fresh, but the wood is pushy.
