D. by Duorum Tawny Port

D. by Duorum Tawny Port

João Portugal Ramos and his friend José Maria Soares Franco, both renowned winemakers in Portugal, started the Duorum project in the Douro in 2007. Here they make this delicious matured Tawny Port. The idea behind D by Duorum is to create a Tawny that everyone can enjoy, easy to taste and easy to drink. A nice introduction to the delicious world of Port wine!

Tawny ports are wines usually made from red grapes that are aged in wooden barrels exposing them to gradual oxidation and evaporation. As a result of this oxidation, the wine mellow to a golden-brown color. The exposure to oxygen imparts rich "nutty" flavours to the wine.

Wine Production

Pre-fermentative maceration at controlled temperature of 10-12ºC  for one day. Fermentation takes places in stainless steel vats at controlled tempertures not exceeding 30ºC . Aged for over 5 years in small oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

More reserved, sometimes serious, and often sweet, D by Duorum Tawny Port's aroma combines ripe fruit with dry fruits and spices, from the maturation.

Food Pairing

An ideal pairing for pecan pie, almond biscotti, regionally-inspired Portuguese salted almond cake, or caramel covered cheesecake. This wine is also exceptional at bringing out the best in German Chocolate Cake, cinnamon-crusted apple pie, crème brûlée, and can even complement the fluffy, full-throttle flavors of coconut cream pie.
