Vintage Port

Touriga Nacional & Touriga Nacional-based Blends

When João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco founded Duorum, their aim was to create the best Port wine. Something special, something unique. Vintage Port represents the very best produce of a single outstanding year. Although Vintage Ports can be enjoyed when young, they will improve for many decades in the cellar and are among the most long-lasting of all wines.

Wine Production

Pre-fermentative maceration at controlled temperature of 10-12ºC. Fermentation takes places in  stainless steel “lagares” (troughs) with robotized treading at controlled tempertures not exceeding 30ºC, in order to obtain the greatest extraction possible of skin constituents. In order to enhance the quality and the desired wine profile, a strict selection of sprits has taken place and marks the difference through its organoleptic elegance. Vintage Port represents the very best produce of a single outstanding year. It remains in vat for only about 2 years and then ages in bottle.

Tasting Notes

Deep red color with dense violoet tones. Intense and elegant aromas dominated by ripe black fruits such as blackberries, prune and cassis alongside balsamic aromas of resin and cedar. Full-bodied with great structure, well balanced acidity, with firm, ripe and well integrated tannins.

Food Pairing

Vintage Port is an excellent accompaniment for small plates that feature ingredients such as blue cheese, dark chocolate, figs, and walnuts (which add their own tannic tango to the mix).

About the Vineyard

From very old Douro vineyards, some of them more than 100 years old. The aromatic intensity originate from the grape varieties Tourgia Franca, Tourgia Nacional, and Tinta Roriz, as well as from many other noble varieties originating from centenary Duoro vineyards.
