Damilano Barolo Liste

Damilano Barolo Liste (Special Order)

Wine Description

The vineyard for this cru is only four hectares, and half of the land here is owned by Damilano. Liste is located up on a hilltop and its vineyards are what visitors see while driving up the famous Alba-Barolo provincial road. The calcareous and limestone soil in Liste helps the wine develop incredibly complex aromas and a deep, powerful structure. Its bright acidity and smooth tannins contribute to give great longevity to the wine. Even the depth of the terrain and the vast water availability favour the production of firmer, tannic, and powerful wines, so much so that Liste is put on the market a year after its “brothers”. Damilano’s Liste Cru has intense notes of mixed berries, liquorice, tobacco and cocoa on the nose. It is dry, full, and velvety on the palate, with a long, persistent finish.

Acclaim
This release of 7,400 bottles is held back for an extra year of aging, and surely that time in the cellar has paid its dividends. The Damilano 2015 Barolo Liste is defined by a supple or soft character that is extremely well played in terms of mouthfeel. The wine is slender, but everything is in the right place, and the intensity of the flavors is definitely stronger and deeper in this beautiful vintage. The Liste cru is also located in the comune of Barolo, but the soil breakdown here is as follows: 15% sand, 55% silt and 30% clay. In sum, this 2015 Barolo Liste is a unique edition that has used the added time in bottle to its advantage, developing extra smoothness and integration.
— Wine Advocate, Jul 2020
“Rust and dark berries with chocolate, plums, hazelnuts and currants. It’s full-bodied with chewy but polished tannins and a long, long finish.”
— James Suckling, Aug 2020
