Wine Description

Weingut Stadt Krems was originally founded by the city of Krems in 1452 to support a local hospital for city residents. With over 550 years of history, Weingut Stadt Krems is one of the oldest wine producers in Europe.  Since July 2003, the estate is managed by a young, innovated team directed by Fritz Miesbauer.  The flagships are Riesling and Gruner Veltliner (over 90%).

Acclaim
“Stadt Krems cultivates three quarters of this prestigious four-hectare terraced cru which was first mentioned in 1180. The south-facing cru, which is planted with Riesling on gneiss soils, is Fritz Miesbauer's most beloved vineyard. He invested a lot since the terraces were heavily damaged by rainfalls in 2002. Hand-picked in the middle of November and fermented and aged during eight months in stainless steel, the 2013 Grillenparz Riesling is paying back now. Bright citrus colored. this precise, fresh and lovely wine offers intense as well as elegant fruit aromas of pineapples and citrus that lead to a very elegant and delicate Riesling with an almost cool, German precision and finesse. This is a full-bodied, fruit-intense and complex Riesling, perfectly balanced and with a pure and lingering salty finish. This is another wine of the vintage in Austria, surely one of the finest, most elegant and precise Rieslings of 2013.”
