Wine Description

CH by Chocapalha is an homage to the Swiss origins of the Tavares da Silva family. This wine is a pure expression of Touriga Nacional fermented in traditional granite lagares and aged in French oak barriques for 24 months before bottling.

“Celebrating the family’s Swiss roots (CH is the abbreviation for Switzerland), this wine comes from the estate’s oldest vines. It is richly endowed with mint and spice flavors, serious tannins and layers of black fruits.”

“The 2015 CH is a Touriga Nacional aged for 22 months in 30% new French oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. The key regions for monovarietal Touriga in Portugal are Dão and Douro, but others are trying to catch up. This is one of my favorite southern examples from year to year. Yum. That scientific term will be most people's reaction. Deep, powerful and chock-full of flavor, this is pretty delicious as well as beautifully structured. Aromatically intense too, this just needs a little time to come together. You could drink it now, but it will acquire more finesse with a couple of years in the cellar. It should have a fairly long life, so there is no rush.”
