Leclerc Briant Les Monts Ferrés

Leclerc Briant Les Monts Ferrés

Wine Description

Leclerc Briant was an early adopter of organic practices beginning in the 1960’s and pioneered the concept of single-vineyard Champagne beginning in the 1970’s. Fifth generation vigneron, Pascal Leclerc began following biodynamic principles in 1988, with part of the production Demeter certified since 2003. Today, enologist Hervé Jestin continues the legacy of this visionary house.

Acclaim
“A seamless Champagne, with a raw silk–like texture and a rich baseline of roasted nuts and salty minerality underscoring flavors of creamed pear and poached apricot, a hint of guava and accents of grated ginger and grapefruit zest. Vibrant and harmonious.” — Wine Spectator, Feb 2024

About the Vineyard

Les Monts Ferrés is a single plot of Chardonnay planted on a predominantly Pinot Noir terroir. This plots marks the limit between the Grand Crus and Premier Cru border, south of the Côte des Blancs, on the Vertus side. The name "Iron Hills" when translated into English, originates from the intriguing composition of the soil. While predominantly chalky, it notably contains a significant concentration of iron.
