Acclaim
“There are some new wines (at least to me), including the 2019 Apalta, a red blend created to celebrate the creation of the Apalta appellation in 2018 with 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Syrah, 7% Carmenere and 5% Merlot that fermented in stainless steel and matured in oak (70%) and stainless steel (30%) barrels for 14 months. It's quite classical, combining ripeness, power and elegance, concentrated but fresh and with aging potential, remarkable for the price.”
— Wine Advocate, Aug 2021
“A soft, open red with currant, sweet-tobacco and cherry aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fresh finish. Blend of cabernet sauvignon, carmenere, merlot and syrah.”
— James Suckling, Jun 2021

Wine Production

100% hand harvested, strict fruit selection by state of the art Vistalys optical sorter. All fermentations were made in stainless steel tanks. The Apalta blend enhances the main characteristics of each variety: from Cabernet Sauvignon, its complexity and elegant structure; from Syrah, its exuberant and attractive aromas; and from the Carmenere, its roundness and spicy expression. 70% of the blend was aged for 12 months in a mix of new and second use French oak barrels. The wine was clarified and a very light filtration was done previous bottling.
