J Portugal Ramos Vinho Verde Rose

Vinho Verde Rose bottle image

Wine Description

This Vinho Verde Rosado is a blend of Portugal’s most noble grape Touriga Nacional, and two grapes native to the region – Padeiro and Espadeiro. The sourcing of the grapes comes from the sub-regions of Lima and Cavado in the Vinho Verde region. The grapes are macerated for a short time and then fermented cool in stainless steel tanks to preserve the refreshing acidity and youthful fruitiness. The wine is lightly fined for a brilliant clarity and then bottled young for immediate enjoyment.

Acclaim
“The 2015 Rosé is the debut vintage of this wine. It is a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 20% Espadeiro and 30% a field blend of various grapes in various quantities. It comes in at four grams per liter of residual sugar and 11.5% alcohol. It is fruity and intensely flavorful, but also crisp and it finishes very dry. The zesty acidity together with the intensity of flavor make this a lot of fun–and a pink that will be very refreshing on a warm day. I liked this a lot. It's a terrific value, mingling crisp seriousness with party-pleaser flavor.”

One of the better examples in this category, this is crisp and clean. It has a hint of tannin and a green edge from the only just-ripe grapes. The strawberry flavor at the end does bring an attractive aftertaste. Best Buy.
