Château de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge

Chateau de Fontenille Rouge Bottle

Wine Description

The vines of Château de Fontenille have flourished on gravel terroirs bathed in generous sun since the 13th century. Hidden among the vineyards was a pilgrimage route to the neighboring Benedictine monastery, Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure, whose monks tended to the vines for hundreds of years. With nearly 80 acres dedicated to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the history of this site is alive in the gravel and clay dominated soils that contribute to the complexity of the Château de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge. Composed of mostly Merlot, this wine is elegant, harmonious and the perfect value to share with friends.

Acclaim
“This shows notes of savory dark fruit, mint leaves, spices and wet earth. Polished and creamy on the palate with a chalky texture. Firm finish with notes of cedar and nut shell. 80% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 10% cabernet franc.”
— James Suckling, Dec 2022
“This smoky wine has black fruits and soft tannins. It is developing easily and gently into an attractive fruity wine.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Dec 2022
