Wine Description

A blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo grown in the Perdera vineyard. The grapes are harvested in early October and fermented in glass-lined cement tanks. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for five to six months in order to achieve extra elegance and consistent structure.

Acclaim
“Deep ruby-purple. Rich red and dark berry aromas with strong tarry and wet earth overtones. Creamy blackberry and chocolatey plum flavors are complicated by ink and cracked pepper. Starts sweet and supple, then turns quite tannic with air, finishing with mouthcoating grip and a repeating tarry quality. I like this wine's mix of Old World spicy toughness and international creamy fruit expression.”
— International Wine Cellar, Apr 2011
The 2007 Perdera is the house's entry-level red. A blend of 90% Monica, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo, (all indigenous varieties), it spends a brief sojourn of 5-6 months in French oak. This delicious, hearty red is loaded with dark red cherries, cracked black pepper, spices, licorice and herbs. It is an incredibly pleasing, hearty red to enjoy over the next few years.
