Acclaim
“A rich, high-octane Marlborough Pinot, this offers oodles of ripe berry fruit, a touch of meaty savoriness and a sweet oak note from the get-go. A full-figured, luscious palate is lifted by nice acidity and tightened by muscular tannins.” – (Cellar Selection) — Wine Enthusiast, Apr 2024
“This is showing aromas of tobacco, dark chocolate, violets and dark berries. Deep and flavorful, with a medium to full body and sleek tannins.” — James Suckling, Nov 2023

Wine Production

The Taylor Pass Pinot Noir fruit is planted on a mixture of soils. Stony soil that contributes fresh floral and red cherry fruit aromas, whereas silty loam soil provides earthy dense tannins and dark berry fruit flavors. The various clones and differing soil types are harvested separately to provide winemakers with as many flavor and texture options to choose from for this single vineyard wine.

About the Vineyard

Taylors Pass Vineyard sits on the northern bank of the Awatere River, running east to west through the Awatere valley and out to the Clifford Bay in the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard is warm and sheltered from the cool southerly breezes that flow down through the valley from the mountains.
