Villa Maria EarthGarden Pinot Noir

Villa Maria EarthGarden Pinot Noir

Wine Description

EarthGarden is grown in harmony with nature, embodying a holistic approach that is better for our soils, our ecosystems and ourselves.

No synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used and hundreds of pounds of wildflowers are planted in our vineyards to attract bees and beneficial insects to control pests and disease in harmony with nature. These wildflowers were the inspiration for our beautiful label.

Sustainable vineyard management means healthier vines and fruit, requiring less winemaking intervention to allow the purest expression of the grape and terroir in every delicious bottle.

When you taste our wine, you taste the care put into the soil, the conscious tending of the vines, the careful handling of the fruit produced and the respect for our relationship with the land.

Acclaim
“Varietal, floral, fruity and inviting bouquet. Aromas and flavours of fresh red cherries, red apple and plum. Moments of rhubarb and raspberry then dried herb and barrel spices. Firm youthful texture with medium tannins adding texture and a coarse chalky feel. Plenty of acidity, medium weight, moderate oak complexity and floral finish. Youthful, fresh, vibrant and lengthy. Well made. Ready to enjoy from late 2021 through 2026.”
— Cam Douglas, Mar 2021
“This is a dark and dense wine with notes of spiced plum, wild blackberry, and black cherry. Complexities arrive that include black tea, black pepper and dried lavender. Some wonderful tannins give the wine some great structure, with a nice smoky and earthy finish. Not your usual bland kiwi pinot; a well-made quaff. The winery recommends this wine will pair well with New Zealand lamb; it is also rich enough to enhance slow cooked beef cheeks. For a plant-based alternative, try with mushroom or truffle-accented dishes to accentuate its earthy character."
