Valle Reale San Calisto

San Calisto Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC bottle image

Wine Description

A muscular yet refined 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, made from grapes grown in the 62-acre San Calisto parcel, the oldest plot in the Valle Reale estate planted in 1975. Located within one of Italy's most beautiful national parks, this unique vineyard benefits from the influence of the Pescara River, the area’s wild vegetation, and the surrounding mountains.

Acclaim
One of the very best examples of (Montepulciano) on the market, almost purple in color, very ripe and jammy on the nose...concentrated, dense, and very long on the palate...
— Wine Advocate, Apr 2004
Jammy, sweet nose of crushed black cherry fruits..., mature tannins, dried herb, touch of earth, leather, cassis. From the high elevation, single-vineyard site called San Calisto...
