Tiefenbrunner
Merus Gewürztraminer
This most ancient grape of the region is treated to some very careful vinification that preserves its true varietal character. Grown on hillsides surrounding the villages of Entiklar and Kurtatsch, not far from the winery itself, the Gewürztraminer is allowed to get perfectly ripe. Vinified in a combination of stainless steel tanks and cement vats, the wine is matured on the fine lees for extra depth of character. The stainless steel preserves freshness while the cement allows the wine to breathe naturally. The final blend is a classic example of this variety.
Tasting Notes
Bright yellow to gold in hue, this wine has a distinctive bouquet of stone fruit such as peaches complemented by delicate notes of honey, sage, rose petals and exotic spices. A full-bodied and harmonious white with a long finish.
Food Pairing
It pairs especially well with Asian dishes, shellfish and even goose liver pâté.
