Suavia Monte Carbonare

Monte Carbonare Soave Classico DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Monte Carbonare is the name of the hill upon which the vineyard that sources this wine is situated. The word Carbonare refers to coal and is used to describe this location because the volcanic soils here are black as coal.   Produced from 100% Garganega and exposed only to stainless steel in order to preserve freshness, the Tessari family describes this wine as “earth in a glass”—a pure expression of their volcanic terroir.

Acclaim
“Very rich, lightly exotic fruit aromas, together with a dense bed of minerals. Full and deeply complex with bright fruit, really clean minerals and a long, driving finish. This needs decanting, but the class and complexity is immediately evident.”
— James Suckling, Nov 2021
“An elegant, silky wine from a superb Grand Cru single vineyard in a superb vintage. While it will take years for this wine to reveal its full potential, it’s extremely enjoyable in its youth. Superbly balanced with bright acidity, richness of fruit, and stony minerals, the 2013 Monte Carbonare shows the heights that Soave Classico can reach. One of the best Soaves we’ve tasted.”
— International Wine Review, Jun 2015
