Acclaim
“In fact, especially as regards Riesling, I’d say it’s little short of a marvel! Pichler’s 2010 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel is one of those examples of its vintage and varietal that is salad-like in its crisp, juicy, subtly bitter and deliciously refreshing resemblance to an amalgam of lettuces and cress, here dressed with fresh lime and a pinch of saliva-inducing salt. For all of its buoyancy, this 12% alcohol Veltliner preserves a palpable sense of high-extract, and one enjoys an unobstructed perception of myriad herbal and mineral finishing nuances. Not for the first time, this grower has rendered an exemplary Federspiel that serves as a fascinatingly complex “entry-level” Grüner Veltliner and should drink well for at least 6-8 years.”
