Di Majo Norante

Brand Description

Founded in 1968, the Di Majo estate cultivates over 200 acres under vine. To ensure consistent, high-quality production for all the estate’s wines, Alessio Di Majo hired renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella as a consultant. In addition to producing quality wine at an outstanding value, the Di Majo family is dedicated to practicing environmentally sound agriculture.

Location of Vineyard

The Di Majo Norante winery is located on the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina estate in the Molise region, along the Adriatic Sea between Puglia and Abruzzo. Vine cultivation in this area dates back to 500 BC, when two pre-Roman civilizations, the Sanniti and the Osci, inhabited the region. The estate has been dedicated to growing vines since the 1800s. In the 1960s, a modern cantina was constructed, and vines were replanted in the Ramitello area.

Winemaking and Viticulture Philosophy

Optimal exposure, constant summer breezes, excellent soil composition, and a slope toward the Sciabolone and Madonna Grande valleys combine to create a particularly favorable environment for wine production.

Acclaim
A dusting of violet candies and crushed chalk gives way to dried strawberries and minty herbs as the 2021 Sangiovese unwinds in the glass. It sweeps across with ripe wild berry fruits and mineral tones, all elevated by a core of brisk acidity. The 2021 finishes long and with cheek-puckering tension, leaving nuances of sour citrus and cherry to fade slowly. — acclaim for 2021 Di Majo Norante Sangiovese from Vinous, Mar 2025
The 2020 Ramitello lifts from the glass with a darkly floral bouquet of stone dust, hints of cocoa, crushed blueberries and blackberries. It opens with a pretty inner sweetness and soothingly round textures, gaining tension through a core of tart wild berry fruits and a tinge of dark chocolate. The 2020 finished staining and intense with admirable length, leaving edgy tannins to resonate. The Ramitello is a blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Anglianico. — acclaim for 2020 Di Majo Norante Ramitello from Vinous, Mar 2025
The 2023 Falanghina is understates, showing glimpses of yellow apples and honeyed flowers. It’s more savory than sweet with oily textures and mineral-infused orchard fruits swirling throughout. This tapers off clean and with medium length, leaving a vivid note of ginger-spiked yellow apples. — acclaim for 2023 Di Majo Norante Falanghina from Vinous, Mar 2025
