Wine Description

The Mendoza Province is Argentina's most important winemaking region.  Withing the Mendoza appellation there are distince sub-appellations.  Through extrodinary diversity in soil quality, altitude and climate, mendoza's sub appellations/IGs are essential in defining the terroir of Argentine wine.  Wines labeled from a particular appellation/IG must be sources 100% from vineyards in the specific IG.

Acclaim
“During dry years, Agrelo is an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignons, thanks to its clay-rich soils, which prevent moisture imbalances. Spending 12 months in 35% new French oak, this wine is a treat for the tongue: purplish-red in the glass with notes of black currant and hawthorn, a touch of wood and some minty pyrazines as part of a compact, medium-bodied structure featuring muscular but smooth tannins. Floral at the back of the mouth. Two glasses is the minimum recommended dose for this wine.”
— Vinous, Oct 2020
“Lots of brambleberry and blackberry aromas with some currants and hints of fresh herbs. Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and firm tannins that give the wine depth and structure. Try after 2023, when it will soften slightly and show more beauty.”
— James Suckling, Mar 2021
