ÀN/2 bottle image

Wine Description

Grapes from old vines of Callet, Mantonegre-Fogoneu and Syrah are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, and macerated only briefly to retain the most refined flavors of this fully ripe fruit. Aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American barriques.

Acclaim
The 2004 AN/2 is a blend of 65% Callet, 25% Mantonegro, and 10% Syrah. Subsequently, 85% of the wine was aged in French oak (70% new) and 15% in tank for a total of 10 months. Dark ruby-colored, with expressive toasty, smoky, kirsch and raspberry aromas and flavors, on the palate this medium to full-bodied wine is rich yet elegant, nicely layered, and has a long, pure finish. Drink this unique wine over the next 4-6 years.
— Wine Advocate, Feb 2007
From Mallorca, this is a blend of indigenous, unheard-of-grapes aged 12 months in French oak. The result includes aromas of milk chocolate and mocha in front of baked fruit, fudge and licorice. It's unlike most anything else on the planet.
