Kekerengu

In a little-known valley in the south of the Marlborough region lies Kekerengu Coast, an untouched, unique valley of wild beauty hidden between ageless mountains and the sea. The soil is stony and rough, with veins of limestone carried by forgotten glaciers. The morning mist and the wind ensure the grapes develop slower than in other places — perfect for cool-climate winemaking. Unlike traditional Sauvignon Blanc, Allan Scott Kekerengu gets better with age. As it matures a gentle mist gathers within—forsaking clarity for flavor. Fresh sea breezes from the nearby beach adds a gentle saltiness to the grapes, which can be tasted from the glass.

Wine Production

The grapes are machine harvested and immediately pressed in the cool of the night. The juice is maintained at cool temperatures to ensure the aromatics are not lost. Cleared juice is then fermented to dryness at cool temperatures with specifically selected yeasts. Only the best juice from each tank is selected for blending into a wonderful fresh expression for bottling.

Tasting Notes

Fresh, zesty, juicy and full, the wine shows ripe tropical fruit, a flinty palate and finishes with mouthwatering, crisp, sea-salted herbaceousness.

Food Pairing

Best enjoyed now, chilled on its own, or with the last of the summer produce.
