“This is a great vintage for this wine with a very fresh, attractive delivery in a full-bodied style. Ripe red plums, blackberries and cherries with a cedary, tobacco edge, purple olives and fruit-steeped roasting herbs. It has a very intense, crisply cut palate that has flavors of dark cherries, blackberries, chocolate and such attractive spice complexity. Runs long on the focused finish. Regal. A great Caley.”
“This has a very attractive, blackberry and red-plum nose with some leafy elements, as well as plenty of oak spice and hints of black tea. This has a fleshy, supple, bold and round palate. Very supple, sleek and long. Silky, yet sturdy. Very drinkable now and will last a good two decades. A vinous slam dunk!”
“The Catena family is renowned in Argentina for all they have done for the industry in the country. Their wines are the best of the best. The Catena Zapata Nicolas is a perfect Argentine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. It shows off the energy and power the red wines can produce here."
“Medium ruby in the glass with generous aromas of red and dark fruit with roasted jalapeño in the background. Flavors of blackberries, raspberries and plums combine with dusty earth and dried herbs. Tannins are drying and the body medium. The combination of red and dark fruit with roasted jalapeño in the background is so appealing to me and the flavors don’t disappoint. This wine hints at a cool climate, but doesn’t scream it. Got a burger? The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Shiraz, 12% Merlot with aging in French and American oak.”
“Yalumba's 2015 The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz features complementary notes of cedar and cassis, vanilla and blackberries, mint and black olives. It's full-bodied and velvety in feel, with ample tannin but also a sense of generosity, and it has a long, grainy-textured finish. Concentrated and intense, it should age well for a decade and a half or more. This 46th vintage of The Signature has been dedicated to Darrell Kruger, Barossa vineyard manager for Yalumba since 1975.”
“Mid cherry red. Pure dark cassis and cassis leaf with a Western Australian leafy lift. Savoury and utterly bone dry in the fine tannins. Really elegant and mouth-wateringly fresh. There's a delicacy even with a long, long finish. Still so young!”
“This is an all-caps stellar wine from Pauillac and it’s under $100! I feel this wine has a soul and when you pour a glass it offers it for you to enjoy. It is deep, full-bodied, and extremely elegant. The acidity is perfect and the interwoven tannins hold together its impeccable structure. The nose has descriptors, for sure — black currant, leather, tobacco, white pepper — but all that matters is the sum of those parts coming together and physically affecting your posture as you take it in. This bottle is why we humans fall in love with wine and it still has years to evolve.”
“The higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon comes through with an extra depth of blackcurrant and leaf character on the palate. Clean, fresh and lively, there is great lift here. Elegant, with lots of purity, this is not a blockbuster style, but rather a refined, mid-term blend with wide appeal.”
