Dark ruby-red. Deep aromas and flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, red plums, flint, cedar, cinnamon and nutmeg are refreshed by a hint of lemon peel. Densely packed and tightly coiled, but with a sweetness of fruit that's lifted and focused by the wine's harmonious acidity. No shortage of texture here; this is one of the more powerful and darker fruit versions of Turriga ever. Long and multilayered on the finish, this is still very young.
The 2001 Turriga is endowed with gorgeous aromatics. Minerals and herbs gradually emerge from the glass adding complexity to the perfumed, silky fruit. The 2001 reveals terrific balance, length and clarity, all in a style that is at once powerful yet medium in body. Simply put, this is a fabulous Turriga.
This wine is a bit special. It's made mostly of the native Monica grape, which gives off unbridled aromas to go with leathery nuances and wild raspberry flavors... Perdera is spicy, precocious, and out of the ordinary; best of all, it improves each minute its open.
