“Vineyard lots are harvested at different times to ensure optimal acidity and alcohol levels. Unfined and unfiltered, this Malbec is rich, luscious and smooth with licorice, blackberry and spice notes. It finishes long and strong, with integrated tannins and great acidity. Excellent.”
“I was certainly smitten like a kitten with this lovely rendition of Rosso Veronese from Zenato called Alanera made primarily from the Corvina grape…There was an immediate flavor connection in the terroir that took me back to my early days of cooking in Italian kitchens. The vine age (planted in 1970) adds to the complexity and with some of the grapes partially dried, that complexity and concentration expands considerably.
Aromas are dried red fruits with tobacco and coffee in the mix. Flavors are ripe plum, sour cherry and almond. 12 months of barrel aging smooths out the rough edges delivering velvety tannins that are mellow. The lengthy well balanced finish showcases the balanced bright acidity that reflects this wines propensity to pair well with beef in tomato sauce.”
