“2016 was an exceptional vintage in Tuscany and, according to Stefano, the best in 20 years. The cool night temperatures allowed for beautifully precise aromatics and perfectly ripe, harmonious tannins. This wine expresses the vintage beautifully and is the best Redigaffi I have tasted – simply stunning! Complex and tightly wound, it carries its 15% alcohol really well. There are hints of roasted coffee beans and green herbs on the nose, while the palate is super-concentrated yet beautifully balanced, with very fine-textured tannins. Blackcurrant, smoky plum and liquorice flavours are joined by a lovely freshness. A beauty.”
“This is an extraordinary merlot with such purity and focus. Flowers such as violets and hints of orange peel. It is full-bodied yet incredibly energetic and structured. The finish goes on for minutes. Seamless texture. Fresh yet dense. Contrasty. Best Redigaffi ever. Hard not to drink now but a wine for decades.”
"The purest and most profound expression of Sangiovese on the market today, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie is a monumental achievement. It represents the pinnacle of varietal perfection from one of the best vintages on record in Montalcino. The wine opens to a beautifully saturated ruby color with vibrant crimson highlights. It shows an enormous sense of inner energy and vitality characteristic only of the best quality grapes. It continues to deliver crisp tones of small forest berry, pressed violets, wet earth, white truffle, licorice, balsam herb and all the other lovely aromas that are so distinctive in wines from this stunning part of Tuscany. The tannins are firm and linear, adding a great sense of support at the back and lingering persistency. The wine is profoundly beautiful today and shows all the criteria necessary for 20 years or more of cellar aging. Brunello Madonna Delle Grazie represents the enormous promise of Montalcino."
This remains the legend. Very dark color ruby. Masses of crushed raspberry and blackberry on the nose. Lots of vanilla and violet, as well as hints of tangerine. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a dense, yet harmonious palate. It has lots going on. Wonderful. Hard not to drink now, but will improve for decades.
Terrific aromas of blackberies, toasted oak and cedar with hints of Cuban tobacco. Full-bodied, with a phenomenal richness and balance...Layers upon layers of fruit and ripe tannins. Mindblowing. How can Nebbiolo be better?
[A] wine of extraordinary distinction and intensity. It boasts a fabulous perfume of melted licorice mixed with high quality espresso roast, black cherry and currant liqueur, white flowers, and toast...great intensity, glorious ripeness, formidable purity...this is the stuff of dreams!
The greatest wine from Piedmont in years. The perfect Barolo. Spellbinding, with a concentration of fruit that leaves me speechless. Amazing fruit aromas, like a reduced raspberry sauce, yet there's a complexity, with hints of spices and toasted wood. Full-bodied, with a wonderful concentration of fruit. Big and velvety, yet refined and caressing. A treat to drink now, but this is a wine to cellar for decades.
[I]s the greatest young wine I have tasted from Piedmont. The perfect Barolo. It's breathtaking, with a concentration of fruit that leaves me speechless. It's big and velvety yet refined and caressing with layers of fruit and tannins. It will be a new benchmark for Barolo...
