The 2007 The Gate Block Shiraz spent 18 months in new French oak. It is a bit muted aromatically but has considerably more to offer on the palate. Medium-bodied and stream-lined, it delivers tasty flavors of smoked meat and blueberry. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
The 2006 The Rogue, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Shiraz, and 7% Merlot. It spent 15-18 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it sports a bouquet of spice box, cedar, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Made in a racy, elegant style reflective of a cooler climate, it is impeccably balanced with enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. Drink it from 2011 to 2019.
