“This delivers impressive richness with elegance and depth combined. The aromas of peaches, pink grapefruit and blood oranges lead to a palate that offers similar flavors in a fresh yet concentrated mode.”
"This is a well made wine, at or near the apex of Eden Valley chardonnay in the shifting sands of modern chardonnay style. WA has detonated a bomb for many regions in SA, southern Vic, hemming in regions such as Eden Valley. The colour is still light and bright, the fruit with the best of both worlds (freshness and clear, ripe varietal character, oak kept under control."
"Dijon clones, chilled, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented in barrel, matured for 10 months with lees stirring for 6 months. Heggies Chardonnay is well bred and well behaved. You just wish it could become a wild child one vintage to surprise us all. The reality is, of course, that the Eden Valley is a great home for riesling [this is a chardonnay]. Moreover, there are extensive trials and a Reserve block of 0.1.ha under evaluation. [for ries or chard?] In the meantime there's no X-factor."
"A very impressive wine for the complexity and concentration. This has intense nectarine, peach and lemon citrus on the nose with hints of honey and grilled hazelnuts. The palate has sizzling acidity."
"Light gold. Fresh pineapple, pear and nectarine on the nose, plus hints of orange pith and toasty lees. Silky and focused, showing good spicy lift and cut to its orchard and citrus fruit flavors. A touch of anise comes up on the lingering, smoky finish."
