"Classic Priorato aromatics of raspberry, cherry, schisty mineral and smoke are welcoming. Elegant and firm in the mouth, with drying tannins and staunch red fruit flavors of cherry and tomato blended with wild herbs and reeds. Earthy and dry on the finish, and not overpowering or overripe."
“The Montgarnatx is a medium ruby red wine composed of 65% Garnacha and 35% Cariñena. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 10 months in 2-3 year-old barriques, it is medium-bodied with aromas and flavors of plum and earth with notes of forest floor and chocolate. The wine is beautifully balanced and has a persistent finish.”
The 2004 Montgarnatx is a blend of 75% Garnacha and 25% Carignan from relatively young vines planted in a challenging terroir yielding less than a ton of fruit per acre. The wine was fermented in stainless steel and aged for 8 months in used French oak. Dark ruby/purple in color, the wine gives off lovely aromas of cedar, cinnamon, kirsch, blueberry, and licorice. This is followed by a full-bodied wine with ripe, plummy, balsamic and blue fruit flavors of superb intensity, lots of depth, and a long, pure finish.
