The tannins are fine but provide a firm grip on the midpalate and ultimately clench up the finish. Tangy mineral tones ride underneath, with more floral tones chiming in.”

“The Superiore category is a relatively new addition to the Vulture wine appellation, and I’ve only seen a handful of these wines so far. One of these is from Bisceglia. The 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Gudarrà is stacked tall and wide with ripe aromas of blackberry preserves, plum and sweet prune. That hot-vintage ripeness is evident, but thankfully, it stops just short of going overboard. You taste some of that sunny summer sweetness, but there are enough mineral notes and overall freshness to keep the wine in good focus and balance.”
