Tramin Unterebner

Unterebner Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

This is not your typical Pinot Grigio. Made using hand-selected grapes from the Unterebner vineyard in Alto Adige, the wine is refined in large oak casks. After seven to eight months of lees contact, the resulting wine is rich, refined and elegant.

Acclaim
“Luminous pale golden-tinged yellow. Intense aromas of nectarine, pineapple, smoke and lemon zest, with intense floral and ginger topnotes. Juicy and expansive on the palate, this very big and dense 2016 has bright acidity giving lift and focus to the smoky peach, grapefruit, lychee and tropical fruit flavors. Spice and floral notes linger on the sappy, focused finish. Tramin’s Unterebner may well be Italy’s most interesting and most distinctive oaked Pinot Grigio.”
— Vinous, Dec 2018
“Notes of nutmeg accent this wine’s fleshy apple and green pear flavors. It feels more expansive than most pinot grigios, enriched by a year of aging in oak barrels. It’s a terrific partner for a spiced pork tenderloin.” (Year's Best Northeast Italy & Slovenia)
