Tramin Nussbaumer

Nussbaumer Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Few realize that Alto Adige is the spiritual home of Gewürztraminer (which translates as “spice carrier” for its spicy, exotic notes) and it has been a hallmark offering at Tramin since it was founded one hundred and twenty years ago. Today, the grapes are sourced from vineyards in Montan and Tramin, where this grape is known to produce wines of particularly high caliber.

Acclaim
“Closed with a glass cork, the 2016 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer is floral and fragrant with abundant layers of white rose, honeysuckle and orange blossom. If you love this variety, you are going to appreciate the clean lines and snappy style evidenced by this wine from the far north of Italy. Spicy notes of nutmeg and clove appear as distant accents on the close. The 15% alcohol fuels a long finish. The Tramin subzone of the appellation is home to some of the best Gewürztraminer in Alto Adige. Some 70,000 bottles were made.”
— Wine Advocate, Aug 2018
“Bright golden yellow. Highly perfumed, aromatic nose offers fresh pear, yellow plum, mushrooms and lychee; very Alsatian in style. Citrus zest and tropical fruit flavors boast fine balance and focus. The 2016 Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer finishes with noteworthy cut and tropical fruit-driven thrust.”
