Tiefenbrunner Turmhof Lagrein

Turmhof Lagrein Alto Adige DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Made from 100% Lagrein grown in estate vineyards in the Alto-Adige. Lagrein is an indigenous varietal that is most often vinified into deep, dark reds that have chocolate nuances and rich fruit flavors. Tiefenbrunner harvests the grapes in September and, after fermentation, 80% of the wine is aged in barriques and 20% in large oak barrels for 12 months.

Acclaim
Best Values - Dark ruby in color, with aromas of crushed currant and notes of earth, dried herbs and black licorice. Medium-bodied, with a silky mouthfeel and intense fruit throughout the medium finish. Clean and delicious.
— Wine Spectator, Jun 2007
Buying Guide - Blueberry and cherry fruit are the protagonist with delicately toasted oak in a supporting role. There's a sweet note in the mouth with flavors of balsamic sauce, pine nut, licorice and red cedarwood. Pair with grilled lamb or game.
