Suavia Massifitti

Suavia Massifitti

Wine Description

Fittà is the name of the ancient village where Suavia is based.  It derives from the Latin word, “fictus,” meaning, “driven-in,” which refers to the masses of columnar basalt that are naturally found in the area and appear to have been driven into the ground.  The name, Massifitti, translates roughly as, “embedded masses” and pays tribute to this aspect of the local area.  Made from 100% Trebbiano di Soave, Massifitti is fermented in stainless steel tanks following a 24-hour cold soak maceration.   It is then refined for another six months in tank.

Acclaim
“This vintage marks the 10th anniversary (2008-2018) of one of the most successful out-of-the-box white wines created in this appellation. Before the Tessari sisters of Suavia, the concept of an age-worthy Trebbiano di Soave was unheard of. The role of the grape was previously limited to blending with Garganega. In a screw-cap bottle, the 2018 Trebbiano Massifitti shows a medium-rich texture with stone fruit, limestone and preserved lemon. Winemaking sees stainless steel only with lees contact. This is a white wine that drinks like a red wine, but it has the freshness and brightness to pair with fish or lean meats.” — Wine Advocate, Oct 2023
“Peach skin and pear is complemented by hints of raw almond and incense, as the 2018 Trebbiano Veronese Massifitti blossoms in the glass. It’s texturally deep with citrus-tinged orchard fruits and minerals that creates a push and pull of salty and sweet. It leaves the palate reeling with mouthwatering tension, as the cheeks pucker and nuances of chamomile slowly fade through the lightly structured finale. The Massifitti is simply a pleasure to taste. It’s a varietal Trebbiano di Soave from vines growing in basalt rock soils. Don’t miss it.”
