Pike & Joyce Rapide Pinot Noir 2016

Pike & Joyce is perched high in the Adelaide Hills (593m above sea level). Established in 1998, our brand is a partnership between two families who both share a love of the region, a passion for food and vitilculture, and a desire to produce only the finest wines. The Joyce family - fifth generation horticulturists - and the Pike family - long established in winemaking and viticulture - brought this vision to life with the development of 25 hectares of land at Lenswood.

Our “Rapide” Pinot Noir aims to deliver bright, fresh fruit and early drinkability. An estate grown wine made with 100% Adelaide Hills fruit. 

About the Vineyard

The cool climate, the gravelly loam soil, the sloping land and its lofty elevated position provide the terroir for the production of the highest quality cool climate wine grapes. Accordingly the wines produced have a distinctive and sub regional character. 

Tasting Notes

Attractive fresh strawberry and dark cherry fruits with just a hint of oak. Also displays a little damp earth and some “foresty” notes derived from whole bunch fermentation components that were included in the mix. Although typically elegant, the palate has nice depth of the bright fruits mentioned above, soft tannins and balanced acidity.

Food Pairing

Try it with grilled spare ribs marinated in Chinese BBQ sauce.
