Gran Enemigo Agrelo

Gran Enemigo Agrelo

Wine Description

Winemaking is spread between the Catena family winery in the Uco Valley and Alejandro's own barrel room in his garden of Chachingo - The Republic - where his young son rides a horse among olive trees and where dogs and chickens share the grounds with the Vigil family and the winery.

Acclaim
“The bouquet is loaded with blackberry, blueberry, green bell pepper and graphite aromas. It’s a well-crafted wine with mineral texture and intense black fruit flavors. Hints of smoke and black olive add complexity while good acidity and supple tannins provide a good mouthfeel. It has a lingering delicious finish.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Jul 2022
“The 2017 Cabernet Franc El Enemigo Single Vineyard Agrelo has a 15% dash of Malbec, both from Lujan de Cuyo, 30% fermented in whole bunches before aging for 15 months in used barrels and foudres. Rich purple in the glass. The simple aromas feature ripe plum, blackcurrant and country herbs with hints of stems, black tea and jalapeno. Intense and compact with a juicy mouthfeel, the fine tannins sit on the tongue and act as a corset for the flow. The 107 is a linear, energetic red.”
