Wine Description

"Lions de Batailley" is the second wine of Château Batailley and draws its name from the two Lions who guard the gates of Château Batailley's main entrance.

Château Batailley, a 5th Grand Cru Classé of the classification of 1855, is the Castéja family's and Borie-Manoux’s flagship. It is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc.

Acclaim
“The 2017 Lions de Batailley has a pretty bouquet with blackberry, mint and cedar aromas that demand some coaxing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins. Very smooth thanks to that sheen of vanillary new oak that should subsume with time. This could turn out quite seductive.”
— Neal Martin, Feb 2020
“Composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Lions de Batailley is medium to deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of gorgeous plums, black cherries and blackberries with touches of cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and refreshing with firm yet silky tannins and a lively lift on the finish.” (89-91) points
