Castello di Bossi Berardo Riserva

Berardo Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG bottle image

Wine Description

The Castello di Bossi estate is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the southernmost tip of the Chianti Classico zone. Berardo is a shortened way of saying, "it comes from Berardenga."  Areas further south in Chianti Classico tend to produce rounder, fuller versions of Chianti and this wine is a perfect example of this rich elegance.

Acclaim
“A certified organic wine, the 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo offers bright aromas of dried cherry, forest berry, sweet spice and cinnamon. With fruit from beautiful Castelnuovo Berardenga on the southern side of the appellation, this wine shows medium-rich concentration and good texture with savory oak-driven elements.” — Wine Advocate, Sep 2023
“The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo is a wild, potent wine. Black cherry, grilled herbs, leather, tobacco, smoke and incense bring out the darker side of Sangiovese. Deceptively medium in body, this brooding Riserva offers plenty of punch, even if it finishes feeling just a bit narrow.”
— Vinous, Aug 2023
