GEN Shiraz
Made with 100% certified organic grapes, Yalumba GEN is Yalumba's organic collection representing the winery's committment to "generate good." GEN exemplifies Yalumba' s commitment for betterment and embodies the winery's determination to create a better future for future generations. The collection encompasses more than 172 years of sustainable practices, and is crafted with 100% certified organic grapes and minimal intervention.
All Yalumba GEN wines are Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) certified, and 100% of the wastewater is treated onsite and returned to the vineyards through irrigation. Native salt bushes are planted between the vines to preserve the soil, and for every hectare of vineyard Yalumba owns, the winery has planted at least one hectare of native vegetation to promote natural biodiversity. The labels for Yalumba GEN are made from post-consumer waste and FSC-certified paper.
The icon in the center of the label represents Yalumba's sustainable journey; an understanding that actions today have far reaching effects into the future.
Yalumba GEN Organic Shiraz has bright fruit flavors, plush soft tannins, and a juicy finish.
Wine Production
Made with 100% certified organic grapes and 100% vegan, Yalumba GEN is made without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides in the vineyard. With very few additions, the wine goes through wild fermentation, using only the natural yeasts present in the vineyard and on grape skins.
Tasting Notes
Fennel, blueberries, plums and violets mesh together to create enticing fruit aromas. These aromas continue on the palate and are joined by a hint of black pepper and allspice. A medium-bodied wine with plush, soft tannins and a succulent, juicy, persistent finish.
Food Pairing
Pair with Mexican lasagna, bruschetta pasta, or a Swiss brown mushroom burger with caramelized onions and crispy potato chips.

About the Vineyard
The grapes for this wine are sourced from six family-owned vineyards. The Barich family on the Murray River at Loxton, the Strachan family in McLaren Vale, the Palena family in the Riverland, and the Carypidis family in Virginia, South Australia have been the long term growers and the backbone of this wine. Since 2018, Yalumba has also sourced grapes from the Strachan family at Renmark and from their own vineyard at Waikerie.
